English personal Recount

The night market is a fascinating place. There was one near my home a few days ago. I visited it to see what I could pick up for a bargain. When I arrived at 8pm, the market was in full swing. There were people moving around with arms laden with things of all shapes and sizes.
I realised that there was no system in a night market. The stalls are unlike the systematically arranged departmental stores we usually shop at. I began by going to a store which sold shirts. I learnt that one did not pay the price that a vendor asked for at a night market, you instead bargained until you feel the price is reasonable. I then asked the vendor to name his price. He said $20. I pretended to look aghast and began to walk away. He called me back, and we agreed to $12 , he then grumbled about how hard it was to make a living. I paid the money and wlked off to explore more stores.
After a good walk, several snacks and minor purchase later, I returned home. On the day, when I checked a regular shirt shop, it listed price was $18. I guess they could sell things cheaper at a night market because of the lower rental.
